Auf Wiedersehen: BMW says farewell to Z4 with Final Edition
After three generations, BMW is ending production of the Z4
As early as last year, the writing was already on the wall for the third-generation BMW Z4. Back in June 2024, both the Toyota GR Supra and the current BMW Z4 will reportedly go out of production at the Magna Steyr factory in Austria. Then, in November of last year, Toyota revealed the A90 GR Supra Final Edition, which is limited to only 300 units.
Now, BMW has also released its swan song for the G29 Z4. This is the 2026 BMW Z4 Final Edition, and it will give enthusiasts a limited-time opportunity to order a very special edition of the droptop.

An exclusive paint finish will be available for the BMW Z4 Final Edition called Frozen Matte Black. According to the automaker, this particular color underlines the model's unique flair and is complemented by the M High-gloss Shadowline exterior trim. However, the lucky few who will be able to get the Final Edition can also have the Z4 painted in a different hue. Topping off the exterior changes is a High-gloss Red finish that can be found on the brake calipers.
Speaking of red, distinctive contrasting red seams can be seen in the interior of the Z4 Final Edition. This can be seen on the instrument panel, center console, door trims, and M Sport seats finished in Vernasca Leather. Also present inside the Z4 Final Edition is the M Alcantara steering wheel with contrasting seams to match the interior.

Under the hood, the BMW Z4 Final Edition is available with various engine options. These include the sDrive20i that packs a 2.0L TwinPower Turbo inline-four that puts out 197 PS, the sDrive30i, which generates more power with 258 PS, and the M40i, which delivers 340 PS from a 3.0L TwinPower Turbo inline-six. Available transmissions include a standard six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Customers who are interested in getting one will have a short window for the BMW Z4 Final Edition starting in late January 2026. In addition, production of the BMW Z4 Final Edition will end in March 2026.

With that, those who want to get themselves a Final Edition better let BMW know that you're looking to get one as soon as possible.
