Need to reload your Autosweep or Easytrip RFID before heading out on the expressways today? Well, we have some bad news.
As we speak, it seems that the system used to reload the RFID accounts offline. Whether you use G-Cash or go to stores like 7/11 to top-up, it is impossible to reload your RFID account at this time; just check the GCash application on your phone. So far, we haven't had any good luck. Worse, the downtime applies to both Autosweep and Easytrip accounts.
Considering that all expressways now require RFID for you to enter, per the Department of Transportation (DOTr)'s order, not being able to reload accounts from GCash or over-the-counter payments is a very big problem. If not resolved immediately, motorists will likely have to line up at reloading lanes on expressways and even at various installation sites just to top up their accounts. As a result, it could lead to even worse traffic and longer cues at expressways compared to yesterday, the first day of implementation of a cashless system on expressways. #Carmageddon anyone?
Now if you really need to load into your account and don't want to line up at expressways, you can try using going to various banks and ask whether their systems are online. It is a hassle compared to just transferring money using GCash or topping up via 7/11 no doubt, but hopefully, you won't have to waste hours on end at a tollgate.
It is uncertain why the service is currently offline. Hopefully, AutoSweep and Easytrip manage to get the service online once again very soon.
