The country’s first drive-in cinema at the SM Pampanga Amphitheater became an instant attraction nearly overnight. Unfortunately for those living in Metro Manila (and everywhere around the country), we are missing out due to the quarantine measures keeping us in place. Luckily, the first one in Pampanga won’t be the last. SM Cinemas is adding another location for drive-in theaters. This time around, it will be in Metro Manila.

SM Cinema is opening the second drive-in movie theater at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. Called “Movies By The Bay”, the drive-in cinema located at Block 16 will be held from Wednesday until Sunday every week.

Just like the drive-in cinema in SM Pampanga, tickets cost Php 400 apiece and include, popcorn, bottled water, and beef franks. At the moment, it was not disclosed whether tickets will be sold at the venue or online only. A maximum of four people will be allowed inside each vehicle. However, SM Cinema says having only two people would give the best movie experience.

Before you head to SM Mall of Asia this weekend, the drive-in cinema will only begin next Wednesday, September 9. At the moment, the SM's drive-in cinema movie line-up has yet to be announced. For reference, at the drive-in cinema in SM Pampanga, they showed Train to Busan 2: Peninsula.

We’re certain movie-goers will quickly flock to the drive-in cinema at SM Mall of Asia once tickets are available. Hopefully, the movie they decide to show won’t disappoint.
