Bangkok 2013: Revised Mercedes-Benz E-Class makes ASEAN Premiere

Thailand gets first diesel hybrid luxury car with E300 BlueTEC Hybrid

Mercedes-Benz made the ASEAN premiere of the revised E-Class at the 2013 Bankok International Motor Show. The facelifted E-Class made its world premiere in Detroit earlier this year.  It debuts with three models for the Thai market, E200 Executive, E300 BlueTEC Hybrid Executive, and E300 BlueTEC Hybrid AMG. To further underscore the brand’s position as a safety pioneer, a host of features collective referred to as ‘Intelligent Drive’ have been integrated to the car.

The thorough update features the brand’s new design idiom which is seen all throughout its model range. The most noticeable change is the single housing headlamp, however it still retains the signature ‘four-eyed’ E-Class look. Full LED headlamps will be offered as an option. The front and rear bumpers as well as the bumper and grill have also received significant changes.

The interior has also received subtle changes to reflect the new exterior look. Most noticeable is the three-tube instrument cluster; and the deletion of the gear selector lever on the center console in favor of a multifunction steering wheel mounted ‘Direct Select’ with paddle shifters.

In pioneering safety, Mercedes-Benz’ Intelligent Drive package includes a multi-purpose camera that has two lenses and mounted at the windshield behind the rear-view mirror, this camera aids and works with the Mercedes-Benz's Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Parking Assist, Attention Assist, Pre-Safe and Pre-Safe Plus system and also the radar-based Collision Prevention Assist.

The E-Class will be equipped with 7G-TRONIC Plus automatic transmissions and an ECO Start/Stop function to optimize fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
