The Ford Motor Company has just launched the new generation Ford Everest alongside the updated Ford Ranger at the 36th Bangkok International Motor Show for the Thailand market. The reveal of the Everest at Bangkok is the first time that the production model made its debut in the ASEAN region.
The new generation Everest is the result of years of development for Ford following the previous generation model that has been in the market since the early-2000's. The previous generation was updated three times with new engines and new designs.
The 2015 Ford Everest features styling that is very close to the Ford Everest Concept they unveiled in Sydney in 2013. The seven-seat SUV's development was led by Ford's Asia Pacific design and product development team.
At the Thai-market launch the 2015 Everest was made available in rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Ford's all new SUV will also be available with a pair of upgraded 2.2L and 3.2L Duratorq TDCI turbodiesel engines.
Depending on the variant, the seven-seat 2015 Ford Everest comes with LED DRLs, LED taillights, SYNC2 multimedia entertainment, 225mm of ground clearance, the ability to wade through 800mm of water, Terrain Management for the 4x4 variants (multi-mode driver assistance settings) and more. The Everest rides on the same platform as the Ranger albeit with a multi-link rear suspension with coil springs.
Expect the 2015 Ford Everest to make a preview at the Manila International Auto Show next month, but actual production units will arrive sometime in Q3 2015 according to Ford executives.
