The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, which recently premiered at the Detroit Motor Show makes its first appearance in the ASEAN region at the 36th Bangkok International Motor Show.
The GLE Coupe is one of many models as part of the German automaker’s model name overhaul; the new GLE badge replaces the ML. It is expected to go against the BMW’s X6, which the Munich based automaker labels as a "sports activity coupe."

Introduced for the Thai market as the GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC Coupe, it features the AMG styling package which features a mesh radiator grill with central Mercedes star, intelligent LED headlamps with active lighting and sports accessories such as front and rear aprons. The package is finished off with 22-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke wheels.
The interior features modern luxury and sportiness with a fine selection of premium materials. Infotainment is via the MB Audio 20 with an 8-inch display and intuitive controller and support for Garmin navigation. Ambient lighting gives the driver tree selectable colors according to their mood. The rear seats can be folded down in 1/3 or 2/3 split to increase load capacity.
Under the hood is a 3-liter bi-turbo V6 rated at 367 PS and 520 Nm mated with 9G-Tronic transmission and a 4MATIC permanent all-wheel-drive system.
The dynamic select handling control system features 5 drive modes: normal, comfort, slippery, sport and sport+ for different conditions and preferences. Airmatic air suspension is also standard with adaptive damping system (ADS) for different road conditions with a sensor-based anti-overturn system.
