Bangkok 2024: Isuzu electrifies BIMS with D-Max EV
Isuzu has just shown that the D-Max can be electrified

Isuzu Motors is committed to delivering a carbon-neutral future in the coming years. To make that vision a reality, the diesel specialist has ventured into new territory for its popular midsize pickup truck that serves countless markets.
After giving us a glimpse of their new electrified pickup truck last week, Isuzu Motors Thailand has officially revealed the D-Max EV at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS).

The all-electric concept is our best look yet at an upcoming production version of a zero-emissions D-Max. Unlike your typical Isuzu workhorse, the D-Max EV concept has a closed-off grille along with bright blue accents that remind everyone this is no ordinary Isuzu pickup.

It also comes with unique alloy wheels that appear to be aerodynamically designed to ensure the electric powertrain can maximize the vehicle’s range.

Over to its most important aspect, the D-Max EV concept gets a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that supplies power to a pair of electric motors placed on each axle. The result is an AWD pickup truck that generates 177 PS and 325 Nm of torque.

While it may not be as powerful as the 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX turbo-diesel, the electric hardware means instantaneous acceleration and little to no vibration & noise.

Isuzu plans to launch the D-Max EV concept's production version first in Norway in 2025. Afterward, other markets like the UK, Australia, Thailand, and the rest of the world will get their hands on the D-Max EV.
With Isuzu showing that it’s capable of making electrified vehicles, the diesel specialist will most likely soon offer only electric-assist vehicles (or pure electric models) in the not-so-distant future. After all, the company also revealed the D-Max MHEV last week in Thailand, and the Giga Fuel Cell EV truck & Erga EV bus concept during the 2023 Japan Mobility Show.
We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed if either the D-Max EV or D-Max MHEV will be offered eventually for the Philippine market.
