Audi's new-generation sports car gets a more powerful version after the company debuted the 2016 TT RS at this year's Beijing International Auto Exhibition. Powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine, along with a more aggressive exterior design, the 2016 TT RS will be available either as a coupe or roadster.
Kicking things off with the exterior, the front fascia bears larger air intakes and a Singleframe grill with a new honeycomb grill and quattro logo. Other standard equipment on the TT RS are the 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, rear spoiler and dual exhaust pipes.
Also available for the new TT RS is the optional organic light emitting diode (OLED) for the taillights.. Compared to standard LED lighting, OLED gives off high-contrast light and can be continuously dimmed. Standard TT RS models have LED illumination for both the front and rear.
The Roadster variant has a folding soft-top that can be deployed of up to speeds of 50 k/h.
Aboard the 2016 TT RS, Alcantara leather and pieces of aluminum and carbon fiber trim were extensively used. Also present is the Audi's distinct 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. It can display navigation, dual gauge cluster and even the onboard infotainment system. It even has a separate display that monitor's the car's tire pressure, torque and G-forces.
Other equipment that can be specified on the TT RS are: wireless inductive phone charging, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, hands-free telephony and message reader.
At the heart of the 2016 TT RS is a 2.5-liter TFSI turbocharged five-cylinder engine. It generates 400 PS along with 480 Nm of torque. Power is channeled through all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and quattro AWD system. With it, the TT RS Coupe can go from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. The Roadster, on the other hand, can achieve it in 3.9 seconds. Top speed is rated at 250 km/h though customers can request Audi to increase it to 280 km/h.
Other options that can be fitted on the 2016 TT RS include: carbon fiber ceramic disc brakes, adaptive dampers with magnetic ride technology, 20-inch lightweight forged alloy wheels and MMI navigation with voice control as such.
