Bentley has long been a name synonymous with luxury. That notwithstanding, the British marque's wares were also always fast. Both by design and performance, Bentley has maintained its road presence since its first car rolled out. Imagine when they decided to venture into going faster, and not just with cars, but with SUVs as well.

The multi-award-winning Bentley Bentayga set the luxury SUV benchmark, offering customers the ultimate Grand Touring experience unrestricted by landscape or conditions. Designed, engineered, and handcrafted in Great Britain, this time it will be the latest to get the Speed treatment from Bentley. Slated to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the Bentayga Speed will be the world's fastest production SUV. Bentley claims a top speed of 306 Km/h and acceleration from 0-100km/h in only 3.9 seconds, it will be the brand's most powerful and performance-oriented SUV variant to-date.

Under the hood, the Bentayga Speed is powered by the renowned W12 6.0-liter engine. A healthy 635 horses plus 900 Nm of torque are what push this Bentley to its breakneck speed in such a short amount of time. This plus firmer suspension, permanent all-wheel drive, and even a greater exhaust note add to the skew towards higher performance of the Speed. Carbon ceramic brakes are also an option for those who might want to push stopping to its limit.

The performance pinnacle of the Bentayga range, the Speed is equipped with four on-road Drive Dynamics modes: Comfort, Bentley, Sport, and Custom for drivers who opt to create their own driving set-up. Uniquely found in the Speed, the Sport mode has been re-calibrated to enhance the response from the W12 engine and the eight-speed automatic transmission, as well as the suspension and Bentley Dynamic Ride. The effect is a more dynamic and engaging drive.

Bentley Dynamic Ride is the world’s first electric active roll control technology that utilizes an unrivaled 48V system. This system instantly counteracts lateral rolling forces when cornering and ensures maximum tire contact to deliver class-leading cabin stability, ride comfort and exceptional handling.

It's no question that European brands, from Great Britain to Italy and beyond, have all started a strong venture into the luxury and high-performance SUV fray. With the upcoming release of the Bentayga Speed, the first in its segment, the Lamborghini Urus, will definitely have a lot of challengers coming from all directions. How the battle plays out is something that we can only wait and watch unfold.
