Bentley has recently introduced a new variant of the Bentayga to add to the existing lineup, and it's powered by a new gasoline V8 engine. Prior to the addition of this new variant, interested buyers would only have to choose between a top-end W12 engine or a more sensible diesel V8.

The new power unit is a 4.0-liter biturbo V8, which is also found on the Porsche Panamera Turbo and also on the new Bentley Continental GT. It puts out 550 PS and 770 Nm of torque, which gives the Bentayga V8 a 0-100 km/h time of only 4.5-seconds, faster than the W12 and the diesel V8. Top speed however is down compared to the W12 engine by 11 km/h, topping out at only 290km/h.

Apart from performance figures, Bentley claims the new Bentayga V8 is also more fuel efficient. The V8 has a curb weight of only 2,395 kg compared to the Diesel’s 2506 kg and the W12’s 2440 kg. This both improves it's 0-100km/h time and fuel efficiency. The V8 motor also has cylinder shut-off technology to further improve consumption.

Externally, the Bentayga V8 remains mostly unchanged compared to its W12 and diesel engined counterparts. It does get new 22-inch wheels, which will likely find its way to other variants, and a revised exhaust design to signify it's V8 motor. Inside, everything offered on the W12 and diesel variants is available as well. Bentley also offers optional carbon ceramic brakes in with the title of 'world’s largest front brake system' inorder to help stop the vehicle.

Deliveries of the new Bentayga V8 will begin by the end of March.
