Beyond making clean cars
Honda cars are known to give you more value for your money because of its fuel-efficiency translating to cleaner and lesser toxic emissions. Now, Honda has taken its social responsibility a step higher with its Adopt-a-Tree project in support of ABS-CBN's Bantay Kalikasan.
Honda adopted a total of 7 hectares of land at the La Mesa Watershed, planting close to 600 seedlings of Philippine hard wood trees. Honda has been re-foresting the watershed since 2002.
A joint project of Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) and Honda Parts Manufacturing Corp. (HPMC), this is in line with Honda's global campaign for environmental protection and preservation.
"We should not stop caring for the environment because we know that we cannot survive without nature. But nature can survive without us," HCPI President Takashi Sekiguchi said.
In line with its fuel conservation and environmental preservation campaign, Honda pledged to conduct tree-planting sessions annually to help complete the re-foresting of the remaining 300 hectares of the La Mesa Watershed.
The La Mesa Watershed is a protected rainforest at the heart of Metro Manila, supplying 6% of the city's total clean water requirement. Its total land area is 1,521 hectares, 1,221 of which have already been adopted by various companies and organizations.
