BGC announces quiet zone advisory due to vehicle noise
We love to hear the sound of a nice exhaust system, whether it's from a modified 90s JDM car, a big bike, or an exotic supercar. At the same time, we believe there is a proper place and time to hear them and for owners to let them loose. On the race track or a Sunday afternoon hang, it's fine. In the middle of the night in the city with people trying to catch some sleep, not so. However, it seems not everyone knows that.
In a Facebook post, Bonifacio Global City is reminding the public that its community is a Quiet Zone from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM. The post further says “ A gentle reminder to all vehicle owners, two or four-wheeled, to practice respect at all times.”
The announcement was likely due to noise complaints from residents regarding loud exhausts from cars and bikes late at night. This was further confirmed in the comment sections, with residents agreeing and complaining about the noise from loud exhausts. Some even said that the loud exhausts could be heard from the top floor of condominiums and skyscrapers.
As much as we love the sound of these exhausts, people do get tired and want to rest from a long day or workweek. You wouldn't want to have your sleep and rest time disturbed by your neighbor singing karaoke, right?
It's the same for residents of BGC and other cities in the Philippines when it comes to loud exhausts. The last thing we all want is for more cities to implement something similar to the anti-loud muffler ordinance of Manila.
