Bulakenos heading to North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) can now use a new alternate route that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently opened. Called the Pulilan-Baliuag Diversion Road, it spans 9.6 km long and comes with bike lanes on both directions.
The four-lane diversion road was constructed with a total amount of Php 509 million and is aimed at decongesting the busy section between Pulian to Baliuag along Daang Maharlika Highway. With it, the DPWH claimed that travel time between the two towns has been shortened from 1 hour to just 30 minutes.
The new road starts at Pulilan-Calumpit Road in Barangay Tibag, Pulilan near the NLEX Toll Plaza. It then passes through several barangays and ends at Daang Maharlika Highway in Barangay Tarcan, Baliuag.
Leading the opening cermonies of the newly-constructed road was DPWH Secretary Mark Villar who said that this new road will help alleviate traffic flow along Daang Maharlika and nearby thoroughfares. In addition, Villar mentioned that the Pulilan-Baliuag Diversion Road will not only provide extra vehicular infrastructure, but will also promote biking for transport and recreational use.
