It also comes fitted with an electronic locking rear differential.
It is Asia Pacific's first and only factory-built high-speed off-road performance truck. Ford says they have also made front fenders dent and ding resistant for extreme use. The rear bumper comes with an integrated tow bar with two recovery hooks and towing capacity rated at 3.8 tonnes. The step board is also made of high-strength die-cast aluminum alloy.
It will be fitted with 17-inch alloys wrapped with BF Goodrich 285/70 R17 tires which works in conjunction with a new Terrain Management System (TMS). It is also fitted with a set of Fox off-road tuned suspension featuring coils on all four corners.
“We are thrilled to build on our Ranger success story here in Thailand and across the region with the first-ever Ranger Raptor, which combines the Ranger's renowned 'Built Ford Tough' character with Ford Performance DNA to set a new benchmark in off-road capability,” said Yukontorn 'Vickie' Wisadkosin, president Ford ASEAN.
As previously reported, the Ranger will be powered by a new Bi-Turbo 2.0-liter diesel engine that makes 213 PS and 500 Nm of torque.
Inside, the Ranger Raptor is fitted with steering wheel-mounted magnesium paddle shifters to shift through the 10-speed automatic gearbox. The steering wheel now comes with an 'on-center' mark for ease of locating the center position on higher speeds. The seats will also be Alcantara wrapped and feature larger side bolsters for more spirited driving.
Other features are pretty much the same as the current top-spec Ranger Wildtrak models. A unique feature will be a new Easy Lift Tailgate which is essential an electronic tail lift assist system which reduces initial lift force by 66%.
Infotainment is provided via a Sync-3 system which comes with 6-speakers, 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, and also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
It will come in five colors: Lightning Blue, Race Red, Shadow Black, Frozen White and Conquer Grey.
