If you're in the Alabang area tomorrow (October 11) and still need to have an Autosweep RFID tag installed on your car, pick-up, SUV, van, or other expressway approved vehicle, then you can head over to RSA Motors Alabang.
Yes, BMW's dealership at Molito Lifestyle Center located at the Madrigal Business Park along Commerce Avenue will be hosting RFID installation. And it won't be just exclusive for BMW models. Any vehicle can drop by and have a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag (or sticker) fitted to their vehicle.
The RFID tag that will be installed at BMW Alabang is the Autosweep RFID system. This tag will allow a vehicle to drive on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway, Skyway, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), and the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).
The reason for the partnership is because BMW's distributor in the Philippines falls under the umbrella of San Miguel Corporation, along with the company that manages and operates the SLEX, STAR Tollway, NAIAX, TPLEX, and Skyway.
In order to avail of the RFID tag, vehicle owners just need to bring a a photocopy of the official receipt of registration as well as the certificate of registration (OR/CR). A valid government-issued ID should also be presented. For vehicles not registered under the driver's name, an authorization letter from the registered owner and a photocopy of the latter's government-issued ID with an original signature will suffice.
The tag itself is free, but you do have to pay for the initial credits to be able to use the SMC-operated expressways
The initiative from BMW and San Miguel is in compliance with the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) directive to promote contactless and cashless transactions on local tollways. As such, San Miguel Corporation will implement the cashless toll collection system from November 2, 2020.
The RFID installation at BMW Alabang will be available tomorrow, October 11, 2020 from 6:00AM to 11:00AM only... just in time for your morning ride or drive.
