2017 BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition to average 25.6 km/l
Those interested in the new BMW G30 5-Series but value fuel efficiency overall will be glad to know that the automaker recently released their most frugal model to date. Called the 520d EfficientDynamics Edition, it is powered by a turbo-diesel powertrain that has been modified to deliver best-in-class fuel economy according to BMW.
Propelling the special edition 5-Series is the B47 2.0-liter inline-four turbo-diesel. Compared to standard specification, the engine here gets anti-friction bearings, a high-pressure exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR), map-controlled oil pump and a tweaked common rail direct injection system.
With the necessary modifications, BMW claims the new 520d EfficientDynamics will be able to average between 23.2 and 25.6 km/l. C02 emissions, on the other hand, will only amount between 114 and 102 grams per km. Output rating is still at an admirable 190 PS and 400 Nm of torque between 1750 – 2500 rpm. Estimated 0 – 100 km/h time on the highly-efficient 520d is at 7.5 seconds.
Apart from the fuel economy add-ons, BMW also fitted the sedan with BluePerformance technology. With it, the 520d EfficientDynamics Edition does away with the particular filter, oxidation catalyst and nitrogen oxide storage catalyst with a selective catalytic reduction system (SCR). AdBlue injection on the other further reduces nitrogen oxide emissions.
The 2017 BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition will go on sale by March 2017.
