New M5 M Performance parts, goodies abound for this year's SEMA show
BMW is commemorating 30 years of the M3's introduction to the United States with the 30 Year American Edition M3; the car has been specially prepped by BMW Individual as well as the BMW Group Designworks.
The exterior is finished in Frozen Red II Metallic paying homage to the iconic BMW Henna Red of the original M3 from the 1980's.
With the gilded tone making a comeback after its eighties hey-day, designers decided to fit a set of M Performance Golden light alloy wheels (763M Style), drawing inspireation from M3 E30 Warsteiner DTM racecar. The roof gets treated with exclusive M color stripes on the carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, as well as a 30th Anniversary graphic on the rear sunshade.
The door opens to pure Americana with a red, white and blue theme which designers made with Merino leather.
The interior could not be less special and the designers quickly identified that there is nothing more American than red, white and blue. Open the driver’s door of the 2018 BMW M3 30 Years American Edition and its interior shines through with a continuation of the exterior theme through an expertly crafted tri-color Merino leather interior.
The decorative carbon fiber panel also gets the 30th anniversary graphic. There is also blue and red constrast stitching selectively done on the dashboard and additional themed colors added. Additionally, the interior also benefits from an M Performance armrest, door handles and shift knob.
Apart from the aesthetic details, the special edition M3 also gets performance improvements. Starting with a set of M Performance sport suspension, the M Performance wing, lightweight M Performance exhaust, M Performance wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires,
According to BMW, the one-off M3 30 Years American Edition will be available for sale after the SEMA show.
With plenty of aftermarket goods and parts in store for attendees of this year's SEMA show, BMW is poised to introduce an array of new M Performance parts for the M5 as well. Having only recently unveiled the new M5, for SEMA it will be fitted with all the extra M trinkets that will be available for it once it goes on sale.
BMW says majority the extra M Peformance bits to be displayed on the M5 will be available once the M5 goes on sale in the US next spring, with the remainder of parts being made available soon afterwards. Aside from this, there were indications of a Competition Package for the M5 in the works as well – with bits like a ceramic braking system and perhaps a bump in power to be included in the pack.
