The BMW M3 has set a new production milestone this year. 2016 marks the M3's 30th year in production and BMW is celebrating it by producing a limited run model based on the model's Competition Package.
Called the 30 Jahre M3, all units of the special model will be finished in Macao Blue, one of the original colors of the E30 M3. Also included in the 30 Jahre M3 is the Competition Package's 20-inch wheels and badging on the fender vents. The rest of the the exterior is standard M3 from its signature kidney grill to the Shadowline trim on the window surronds.
The special model also comes with a bespoke interior. This includes two-tone Merino leather sport seats with “30 Jahre M3” embroidery on the front headrests. Interior color choices include black on blue or black on grey. Also added are exclusive door sill plates, an individually numbered carbon fiber trim strip, and seatbelts with the signature BMW M stripes.
Its engine has also been uprated as well. Based on the Competition Package, power goes up from 425 PS to 450 PS while torque is retained at 550 Nm. Like standard M3s, the 30 Jahre M3 is available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
The brakes also get a significant upgrade with ceramic rotors all around. In addition, it gets new springs and dampers plus a recalibrated stability control system. Rounding it all of is a retuned electronic differential for a more aggressive setting. BMW estimates a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.0 seconds to a limited top speed of 280 km/h.
The BMW 30 Jahre M3 is limited to just 500 units worldwide.
