The BMW M3 Sedan made its world debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The new M3 was designed to ensure impressive track capability. To make this possible, engineers worked with BMW Motorsport’s professional racing drivers to ensure the technical composition and the fine-tuning of the car.
The front end of the BMW M3 Sedan is designed with contours and strongly defined three-dimensionality which gives a powerful expressive look. It is designed with a long hood, long wheelbase, set-back glasshouse, and short front overhang. The rear end features a pair of slanting twin exhaust tailpipes which are framed like jewels by the rear apron.
The aerodynamic concept is incorporated on the front apron along with the smooth underbody and defined Gurney spoiler at the rear end of the car. Furthermore, M3’s carbon roof (CFRP roof) is designed to promote lightness to the car.
The BMW M3 Sedan is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology which can deliver 431 PS and 550 Nm of torque. The M3's power is transmittred via six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission giving it an acceleration rate of zero to 97 km/h in 3.9 seconds (with the optional M-DCT transmission).
The optional M-DCT Drivelogic changes gears with no interruption in the flow of power and reduces shift times. The standard-specification Active M Differential at the rear axle also comes in the new M3. It is also equipped with BMW M compound brakes, but customers can also order the lighter BMW M carbon brakes.
