Streetwear designer Ronnie Fieg helped create this BMW M4 Competition
Streetwear designers partnering with automakers seem to be the trend lately. Earlier this year, Virgil Alboh of Off-White fame teamed up with Mercedes-Benz to build a unique G-Wagen. Now, BMW has gone through a similar path with the all-new M4. The German marque has partnered with Kith to create this 2021 M4 Competition x Kith.
Just like Alboh’s G-Class, the man behind Kith, known for their footwear and men’s apparel, is streetwear designer Ronnie Fieg. Coincidentally, Fieg also happens to be a BMW enthusiast himself and owns a clean E30 M3 which was just restored by BMW. Interestingly, he decided to spice up the appearance of the new M4 Competition rather than making BMW-inspired apparel for his label.
Unfortunately, Fieg’s design changes didn’t involve changing the exterior panels such as the bumper or grille. However, the Kith edition M4 Competition does have subtle design changes all around. For starters, there is Kith badging on the trunk lid paired with a large Kith logo on the carbon fiber roof. Inside, the streetwear brand’s logo is found on the center console and seats. The word “Kith” has also been emblazoned all over the interior. No doubt the most interesting feature would be the round BMW logo which has been altered to combine the Kith logo with the signature BMW roundel badge.
Apart from "subtle" aesthetic changes, no other changes were made to the M4 Competition. Under the hood, it uses a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo straight-six which produces 500 horsepower and is paired to an 8-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is standard along with all extra other options for this Kith-ed out M4 Competition.
As much as hypebeasts will want to "cop" this special edition BMW M4 Competition, it won’t be easy. The Kith Edition M4 Competition is limited to just 150 units globally, and all will be available with three different matte finishes: Frozen Black, Frozen Dark Silver, or Frozen Brilliant White.
If only Ronnie Fieg decided to fix the huge grille, we’re sure even non-streetwear fans would flock to reserve a unit of this special edition M4 Comp.
