The F82 BMW M4 Coupe also made its world debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit alongside the M3 Sedan. The performance coupe already made its virtual debut in Gran Turismo 6 in December as part of the German automaker's collaboration with the developers.
Impressive track capability was the focus for designing the new M4 Coupe. Engineers worked closely with the BMW Motorsport professional racing drivers to ensure its technical composition and fine-tuning of the car.
The composition of the BMW M4 Coupe is basically the same with the M3 Sedan. The M4’s look is pretty much the same with M3 but having two less doors. The front end of the BMW M4 Coupe is designed with contours and strongly defined three-dimensionality which gives a powerful expressive look. The M4 Coupe is also designed with a long hood, long wheelbase, set-back glasshouse, and short front overhang.
Another distinct difference between the M4 Coupe and the M3 Sedan is the integrated spoiler lip at the rear of the BMW M4 Coupe. The rear end of the M4 has a pair of slanting twin exhaust tailpipes which are framed like jewels by the rear apron.
The aerodynamic concept for the M4 Coupe is incorporated on the front apron along with the smooth underbody and defined Gurney spoiler at the rear end of the car. Again, same as the M3, the BMW M4 Coupe has a carbon roof (CFRP roof) which is designed to promote lightness to the car.
The BMW M4 Coupe is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology which can deliver 431 ps and 550 Newton-meters of torque. The M4’s power is transmittred via six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission giving it an acceleration rate of zero to 97 km/h in 3.9 seconds (with the optional M-DCT transmission).
BMW says the M4 Coupe also has the optional M-DCT Drivelogic which changes gear with no interruption in the flow of power and reduce shift times. The standard-specification Active M Differential at the rear axle also comes in the new M4. It is also equipped with BMW M compound brakes, but customers can also order the lighter BMW M carbon brakes.
