Asian Carmakers Corporation, the official BMW distributor in the Philippines, has just launched a trio of new models at the Blue Leaf Pavilion in Taguig City with the updated BMW 5 Series Sedan, the updated BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo as well as the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe.

“As we enter the second half of 2014, BMW aims to maintain its leadership in the market with the introduction of a series of new innovations that is sure to make this the most exciting year for the brand yet,” said Maricar Parco, president of Asian Carmakers Corporation.

The two 5 Series models feature updates over the previous version such as new features, design elements and other upgrades. The updates are part of the Life Cycle Impulse, BMW's internal term for mid-generation facelifts of their models.

The highlight of the night was the reveal of the 4 Series Gran Coupe, BMW's latest offering in the compact executive segment. The new model is classified by BMW as a 4 door coupe with 4 frameless windows and a fastback-style rear end and a short rear deck.

“We are very excited to kick-off the second half of 2014 with the launch of the newest model to join the BMW family: the first-ever BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe,” said Parco.

The BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is offered both under the Sport Line and the Luxury Line. The Sport line emphasizes the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe’s aggressive character with high-gloss black exterior accents on the front and rear bumpers, the kidney grille and on the air breather. The Luxury Line features chrome on the exterior to highlight the car's more distinguished character.

The 4 Series GC is now offered by BMW as a 420d with a 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine that makes 184 PS and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Standard are EfficientDynamics technologies such as ECO PRO, auto start stop and other features.

In the same event, ACC also announced BMW's continued leadership in the global luxury sector as well as the Philippine luxury automobile sector. In the latter, ACC-BMW registered 6% growth year-on-year.
