Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, has introduced their latest addition to the local BMW line up, the 2 Series Gran Tourer. Currently on display at the North Court, Power Plant Mall in Makati, the vehicle will be open for the public to see from October 27 to 29.
“We are dedicated to continuously deliver Sheer Driving Pleasure not only to our valued clientele but aspiring owners who seek only the best in mobility. Today, with the debut of the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, we extend our market presence by offering an automobile fit for the lifestyle of growing families,” says Maricar Parco, ACC president.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer is ACC's second offering in the Multi-Purpose Vehicle Market after the 2 Series Active Tourer. It offers seven seats and is said to offer exceptional roominess combined with the practicality of an everyday vehicle.
On the outside, one can easily mistake it for BMW's other MPV, the 2 Series Active Tourer. That is because both vehicles are nearly identical. The main difference would be inside where in the Gran Tourer can seat 7, while the Active Tourer only seats five. The Gran Tourer is also 214mm longer and 53mm higher than the Active Tourer to seat 7. With the third-row seats up, the trunk space is only 560 liters but can be extended to 1,820 liters.
Powering the 2 Series Gran Tourer in locally available 218i variant is the same 1.5-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 138 PS and 220 Nm of torque which is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, same as the Active Tourer as they use the same architecture.
After it's public debut at the Power Plant Mall, the 2 Series Gran Tourer will also be exhibited in other locations: From November 10 to 12 at the Lucky Chinatown Main Mall Atrium in Manila, November 16 to 19 at the SM Mall of Asia Block 12 in Pasay, and November 24 to 26 at the Alabang Town Center Plaza in Muntinlupa.
