Sport, Luxury and M-Sport 3 Series models get an upgrade
By 2018, the current-generation BMW 3 Series will be in its final year of production. But before the sixth-generation model bows out, the folks from Bavaria have unveiled three special editions of the marque's breadwinner. These are the Sport Line Shadow, Luxury Line Purity and the M Sport Shadow. All these special editions will be available in both sedan and wagon body styles.
As the name suggests, the Sport Line Shadow sees more black highlights for the 3 Series. There are black inserts for the headlight assemblies and the surrounds of the kidney and the air duct inserts have also been given a gloss black treatment. At the back, there are also black inserts on the tail lights and, like the grill and air duct inserts, the tail pipes get a gloss black finish. To further separate the Sport Line Shadow from the rest of the range, it rides on special 18-inch alloy wheels exclusive to this model.
Differences inside are the contrasting seams on the trim, an upgraded instrument cluster with more features, as well as the new sports steering wheel. Sport seats are standard and come in a fabric/leather combination. It can also be specified with Dark Aluminium Carbon with accent strips in Pearl Gloss Chrome.
Moving to the Luxury Line Purity, it gets satin-finished aluminum in several parts of the exterior. This brightwork can be seen on the window surrounds, air duct inserts, slats and surrounds of the grille, the rear bumper cover and tailpipes. The standard 17-inch wheels also get this special treatment while a new set of 19-inch wheels, exclusive to the Luxury Line Purity, can also be specified.
An interior color formerly reserved for the 5 Series and 7 Series can now be optioned exclusively for the Luxury Line Purity. Called Cognac, it is a lighter shade of brown and boasts of contrast stiching. It is then complemented by Fineline Light wood trim with Pearl Gloss Chrome strips. The Luxury Line Purity also comes with an upgraded instrument cluster.
Last but not the least is the M-Sport Shadow. Like the Sport Line Shadow, it gets black headlight units and dark taillight inserts, a black BMW kidney grille and exhaust tailpipes in Chrome Black. LED Foglights are standard, as well as 19-inch allow wheels.
Inside are sports seats trimmed in black leather with blue contrast stitching. It is then complemented by Dark Aluminium Carbon trim with Pearl Gloss Chrome accents.
