Light blue, dark blue, and red – these are colors known by BMW fans all over the world; colors that represent the brand's M division. These are also the colors the German automaker will be offering their new special edition M4 Coupe called the Edition M Heritage. Only 750 units will be offered worldwide.
The M4 Edition M Heritage is based on the standard M4 with the changes mainly being cosmetic upgrades inside and out. The most noticeable difference would be the new paint options. Only three colors are available – Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue metallic and Imola red – all of which resemble BWM M's familiar tri-color logo. In order to further distinguish it from a standard M4, the Edition M Heritage features a special decorative stripe in BMW M colors integrated into the carbon fiber reinforced plastic roof. Completing the exterior makeover are the 20-inch wheels finished in matte gray.
Inside, the changes are more subtle. The special edition M4 features full leather M seats with colors that match the exterior paint. There is also contrast stitching and M Heritage identification embroidered into the headrests. Carbon fiber interior trim strips are designed exclusively for the special M4 and feature Edition M Heritage imprints as well as the limited-run number.
As mentioned earlier, changes to the M4 Edition M Heritage are merely cosmetic. Under the hood, it continues to use the standard twin-turbo 3.0-liter straight six which produces 450 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. It was not mentioned what transmission the special edition M4s will be offered with. However, do expect it to be available both in manual or dual-clutch guise.
The new M4 Edition M Heritage will be making its public debut at the final race of the 2019 DTM championship at the Nurburgring this November. The special edition model is a tribute to the brand's M division for its decades of motorsports history.
