Bosch heralds strong German-Filipino cooperation at annual trade expo
A Salute to 20 Years of German Reunification
As a timely tribute to 20 years of German reunification and more than 50 years of strong diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Germany, Bosch unveils its latest automotive and building technology on October 8 to 11 at Mabuhay Germany - the country's largest exhibit of German products and services. Being a founding member of the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (GPCCI), organizers of Mabuhay Germany, Bosch supports the trade fair's third iteration, which is expected to draw some 15,000 visitors at the Bonifacio Highstreet.
"Bosch products have been distributed in the Philippines as early as 1926," says Joseph Hong, managing director of Bosch Philippines. "Since then, the company has stood witness to the country's unfolding history and has grown along with the developing economy."
This same sentiment underscores thriving local industries that keep the world's largest automotive technology supplier and power tools maker firmly invested in the country.
German automotive technology and professional power tools
As the largest supplier of automotive technology parts and diagnostics systems in the local aftermarket, Bosch showcased its service expertise via a free car service clinic along 9th Avenue at the Bonifacio grounds. The company conducted free vehicle diagnostics, emission tests and safety checks for members of German car clubs: Mercedes Benz Car Club of the Philippines (MBCP), BMW Car Club of the Philippines and Porsche Club of the Philippines.
"Mercedes Benz and Bosch have been partners for more than a century," said MBCP President Rene Nuñez. "It is fitting that MBCP and Bosch Philippines work together in ensuring that our cars continue to work the way the (Mercedes Benz) factory intended." Service staff provided free service-related advice with the aid of Bosch Diagnostic Testers that check various engine parameters and analyze electronic-driven systems in vehicles.
The car clinic is a road and driver safety awareness campaign of Bosch Service - the world's largest independent network of over 15,000 outlets.
For Mabuhay Germany, Bosch also engaged the Habitat for Humanity Philippines with which it shares a 10-year partnership in building low-cost houses, most notably in Baseco Manila, where Bosch power tools technology helped build the first 1,000 homes since 2005, according to then HFH president Alberto Jugo. As of late, Bosch renewed its support in the organization's new site in Calauan, Laguna which serves as a relocation site for riverside residents in Pasig.
The event also witnessed the launch of the company's new line of Bosch Measuring Tools that aid interior outfitters in precision installations, the latest class-leading lithium-ion cordless tools, and Bosch Hammers with vibration control, which are widely used in local construction and mining.
A common future for the Philippines and Germany
"We have reason to be confident in the local economy and the long-term strategy of the Bosch Group for the Philippines," says Hong as he pitches for greater cooperation between the two countries. As the developing business landscape in the Philippines provides an ideal environment for German companies presently invested here, further progress in technical cooperation will still greatly benefit local skilled workers and the economy as a whole.
"Our partnership with TESDA is an example of this; more than 5,500 skilled mechanics have graduated from the Advanced Automotive Technology course and our Professional Skills Program will soon provide training for construction workers. Bosch endeavors to help mobilize the industries that it serves," concludes Hong.
In line with enhancing the local workforce, Bosch also received inquiries from job seekers during the GPCCI Job Fair that weekend. Queries came specially for the newly-established Robert Bosch Communication Center Inc. - the Bosch Group's first in the Asia Pacific region and its latest foray into the local BPO.
Since the inception of Mabuhay Germany, Bosch continues to support the trade fair in providing a platform for the development of German-Philippine trade relations. And as the Philippines undertakes even bigger challenges in the 21st century, Bosch also aims to provide the country with technological solutions for both the community and the environment, and ultimately, help facilitate a progressive dialogue between the two countries.
