It's not easy staying in business for over a century. But despite the many setbacks, turmoil and changes of ownership, Bugatti has somehow stayed in the automotive business.
In celebration of its 110th anniversary, Bugatti has revealed a special edition Chiron as a birthday present to itself. Say hello to the Chiron Sport '110 ans Bugatti' a limited edition special that bears the signature tri-color flag of France itself.
“With the limited Chiron Sport ‘110 ans Bugatti’, Bugatti is ushering in the 110th anniversary of its foundation. At the same time, we are underlining our origin and our French roots in Molsheim. Molsheim in the Alsace region of France is an essential element in Bugatti’s brand history and this is also where we are planning our future,” said Stephan Winkelmann, president of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.
Painted in a unique 'Steel Blue' paintjob, Bugatti claims that the two-tone paint is reminiscent of some historic models of the past. While it signified luxury and exclusivity back then, it now represents a sporting character with high-tech prowess. Aside from that, the 110th anniversary special also comes with 'Nocturne' matte-black painted alloy wheels, along with French Racing Blue brake calipers that give the Chiron Sport its distinct color pattern.
But perhaps one of the most notable features of the '110 ans Bugatti' is the rear spoiler. The entire underside has been painted in the French tricolor flag and comes with a rear spoiler mechanism anodized in matte-black. Other portions of the car like the sports exhaust system and the Ettore Bugatti logo have also been painted black to complement the Blue Steel finish.
Besides having an exquisite exterior, the company was also busy hand-crafting its interior. Like the bodywork, the cabin also features the French tricolor design which can be seen on the headrests and 12 o' clock mark on the leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Speaking of leather, the interior itself is upholstered in a rather unique Deep Blue leather finish which gives the Chiron Sport its unmistakable hue. Meanwhile, the contours of the seats are finished in Bright French Racing Blue which makes for a striking contrast. Alcantara trim can also be seen covering certain portions of the Chiron Sport's cabin like the door trims and seats themselves.
But perhaps serving as the centerpiece inside the Chiron Sport '110 ans Bugatti' is a specially-crafted medallion placed on the center console stowage space. It's made from solid silver, comes with enamel inserts and is placed on a carbon fiber plate.
At the heart of the Chiron Sport '110 ans Bugatti' is the same 8.0-liter, W16 quad-turbo powerplant found in other Chirons. It produces an impressive 1500 PS along with a staggering 1600 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It can go from 0 – 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds, reach 200 km/h in only 6.1 seconds and hit 300 km/h in as little as 13.1 seconds. Top speed, on the other hand is rated at over 420 km/h.
Only 20 examples of the Chiron Sport '100 ans Bugatti' will be made in total.
