SOLAR Transport Automotive Resources Corp., (STAR Corp.), the exclusive distributor of BYD vehicles in the Philippines, recently announced their partnership with World Transport for their Taxi Fleet that consists of the automaker’s F3 sedan.
Simple blessing ceremonies were held at the BYD Showroom in Shaw Boulevard headed by STAR Corp. managing director Mark Andrew Tieng and Jose Paolo Soriano, who presented the first BYD F3 taxi to World Transport.
“These are exciting times for STAR Corp. as we roll out our first taxi fleet in the Philippines. The BYD F3 is designed for the Filipino commuting public, who deserve more space and comfort. It is fuel efficient and represents real value for money,” said Tieng.
The BYD F3 Taxi is a compact sedan that was designed specifically for fleet operations as it comes with provisions for a Taxi Meter, Top Mount Light, and a “For Hire” Lamp. The company also claims that it is bigger, wider, longer and roomier than all other current taxi models as it has body dimensions that come in at 4,533 long, 1,705mm wide, 1,490mm tall and a 2,600mm wheelbase.
Under the hood, it has a Euro 4 compliant 1.5L 473QE SOHC inline-four that features the brand’s VVL (Variable Valve Lift) and EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) technology to maximize power while minimizing its environmental impact and fuel consumption. It puts out 107 PS at 5,800 rpm along with a torque rating of 145 Nm at 4,800 rpm. It is then mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The BYD F3 also comes standard with several safety features like: anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), full-size front and rear fog lamps, rear defogger, LED brake lights, as well as a third LED high-mounted brake light.
In addition to owning the BYD F3 Taxi, fleet owners will have access to after sales service, a steady supply of original parts and accessories, as well as a caring fleet account manager to assist in the maintenance of the F3 taxi fleet.
“With its high-quality and excellent performance, the F3 has had wide satisfaction ratings in several countries worldwide. In China it is used as police cars in Guangdong, China by the Huizhou Police Station as well as the local social safety service vehicle since 2008. The F3 is also being used by the Chinese government and its judicial department in Henan, Xian and Shenzhen, China, as their service vehicles,” Tieng added.
