It’s one thing to set a record, but it’s another to set a Guinness World Record. Caltex managed to set the latter.

In a bid to promote the capability of their fuels, Caltex, marketed by Chevron Philippines Inc., has recently launched their latest campaign called World Record-Breaking Fuel. Collaborating with National Geographic in a two-part series called Record Rides, the show pits adrenaline junkie and DJ, KC Montero, against Jamaican-Chinese professional rally race car driver, Natasha Chang, to set the fastest time going up Doi Chang Mountain Road using an everyday car boosted with Caltex with Techron fuel.

“As a leading visual storyteller, National Geographic’s programming pillars of exploration, education, and science resonate well with the Caltex brand. Hence, we are proud to partner with the channel to create Record Rides for our viewers and motorists in Asia. This show will demonstrate how Caltex with Techron® fuels can power an engine towards achieving an extraordinary journey,” says Brian Fisher, Caltex Brand Manager.

Chang was able to set a time of 6 minutes 52.692 seconds during the hill climb, beating Montero and clinching the title of “Fastest Ascent of Doi Chang Mountain Road using a 28-year old car”. Considering what Caltex with Techron can do with a nearly 30-year old car, the company encourages drivers to try out the same fuel that set a Guinness World Record for their everyday rides.

Caltex with Techron is specially formulated to clean and protect engines. The Guinness World Records title achievement helps demonstrate how a clean engine powered by Techron can function at its most optimum, which includes delivering maximum power to your wheels. This is the same fuel that our customers can experience at their neighborhood Caltex stations to power their everyday drive,” said Greg Engeler, Product Engineering Manager for Caltex.

Together with the new campaign, Caltex Philippines has also introduced its new brand ambassador, Dingdong Dantes. Aside from being an acclaimed actor, Dantes also co-owns a car dealership in Paranaque.

“Dingdong Dantes’ roster of achievements is a testament to his determination to keep on taking new challenges whether in acting, in business or his personal life, each time beating his personal best,” said Louie Zhang, CPI Country Chairman. “Aside from this, he is also the perfect embodiment of the Caltex’s tagline and philosophy of “Enjoy the Journey”. He represents the brand’s personality of being positive, friendly, genuine and he encourages people to enjoy the journey of whatever they are doing and wherever they are going.”

Caltex stays committed to innovation in its desire to provide the best possible fuel for motorists to make the journey even more enjoyable.
