More and more vehicles are being sold in dealerships as the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI), along with the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) recently listed a 21% growth in sales for the first semester of 2015.
Compared to last year's 108,957 sales figure, the first half sales for this year registered 131, 465 units sold. Furthermore, each segment were able to surpass their previous record of 2014.
Passenger Cars (PC) rose with a 30% growth, with 52,778 units sold compared to the 40,609 units sold last January to June 2014. In terms of monthly comparison, PC went up by 19% with 9,480 units sold since June 2014 only raked in 8,278 units sold.
Over to Commercial Vehicles (CV), 78,667 units were procured in the first half of 2015, eclipsing the 68,348 sales figure from the first semester of last year. Monthly sales record of CV also went up significantly compared to last year with a 27% growth.
Heavy Duty Trucks also posted record sales as the segment already exceeded the projected whole year sales target of 490, having 493 units sold for the first semester.
“Our automotive industry is riding with the other industries’ growth. Micro SMEs and SMEs are expanding which made for the robust demand for AUVs and SUVs and light commercial vehicles. We just ended the first semester on a very strong note. Industry is confident that it will reach the 310,000 units sales it set for this year,” said Atty. Rommel Gutierrez, President of CAMPI.
Leading the June 2015 sales was Toyota Motors Philippines with a 43.9% market share. In second place is Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation with a 19.2% market share while sitting in third with a 7.9% is Ford Motor Company Philippines. In fourth and fifth are Isuzu Philippines Corporation and Honda Cars Philippines Inc. with 7.7% and 6.6% respectively.
