Motorists who frequently use CAVITEX Expressway will have to prepare a few more coins in their cars. The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) recently approved the toll increase for the R-1 segment (also known as Coastal Road) of the expressway. That part runs from the Seaside to Zapote. The higher toll fees will take effect by October 24 across all three vehicle classes.
The price hike was requested by the CAVITEX Infrastructure Corporation and the Philippine Reclamation Authority, joint partners of Metro Pacific on the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway Project.
Don’t worry though, as the price difference won't be that dramatic. Depending on the vehicle class, toll fees will go up by Php 1 to Php 3 at the most. At the moment, the toll fees for the 7-kilometer R-1 segment of CAVITEX are Php 24 for Class 1, Php 48 for Class 2, and Php 72 for Class 3. With the increased price, this will now change to Php 25 for Class 1, Php 50 for Class 2, and Php 75 for Class 3.
The collection from the increased toll fees are meant to shoulder the widening of the R-1 segment of CAVITEX in both directions. Once completed, the expressway will have gained one lane on each side. This would turn it from a six-lane highway into an eight-lane expressway. Not only that, it will also fund the construction of the Marina Bay flyover.
