The Mercedes-Benz X-Class may be heading to the chopping block soon, but that doesn't mean aftermarket tuners can't get their hands on one and modify it at their leisure. Take for example this mean-looking machine built by delta4x4, an off-road specialist based in Germany.
While it doesn't have an official name, this beast of an X-Class looks like it's ready go one-on-one with the Ranger Raptor. For starters, it has a suspension lift kit that raises its ride height by a few inches. It is then complemented by huge alloy wheels that are available in 17 – 23 inches in diameter. Finally, wrapped around those alloy wheels are Cooper Discoverer STT Pro off-road tires for better grip off the beaten path.
Other key upgrades made to the X-Class by delta4x4 include a bull bar made from stainless steel, a front skid plate, additional underbody protection, roof-mounted LED light bar, wide fender flares, as well as the option of having the bed with a sports bar.
Under the hood, the X-Class remains mechanically unchanged. That means, it's available with either a 2.5-liter turbo-diesel inline-four or the beefier 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6. The former produces either 163 PS with 403 Nm or 190 PS with 450 Nm, while the latter cranks out 258 PS and a healthy 550 Nm of torque. Power is then shifted to a seven-speed automatic transmission.
With Mercedes-Benz set to cease production of the X-Class due to slow sales, perhaps this is just one of the many ways you can kit out the posh pickup truck before it's gone. And should the X-Class be officially gone, delta4x4 might get their hands on the Navara so as to have fun with it.
