There are numerous ways you can go about modifying a Toyota Hilux. For those who want something simple and clean, changing the wheels and tires alone can certainly go a long way. At the same time, you can also turn it into a full rugged off-roader by adding a lift kit, steel bumpers, and mud-terrain tires.
Now, if you really want your Hilux to stand out, Wald recently released a new body kit for the popular pickup truck which might just be for you.
Called the Wald Sports Line Black Bison Edition, the complete kit gives the Hilux a very aggressive overall appearance thanks to a new front end. The bumper features large air intakes and a silver skid plate underneath. A pair of four LED lamps can be added to the intakes as an option. To match the new front bumper, the kit also includes a new hood with a huge intake scoop and bug shield.
What really gives the Hilux more presence are the new over-fenders. The fender flares add an extra 55mm per side, allowing larger and wider wheels and tires to be fitted. In this case, 22-inch Wald Jarret wheels wrapped around chunky mud-terrain tires were fitted on. At the rear, there are new bumper trims in order to match the more aggressive front end. There's also a unique tailgate spoiler that wraps around the taillight. Completing the Sports Line Black Bison Edition kit are the triple tip exhausts, which exit on both sides.
Arguably, the Wald Sports Line Black Bison Edition kit is probably one of the best-looking bodykits you can buy for the Hilux today. If you're planning to order one for your Hilux, then be prepared to burn some cash because it's not cheap. The front and rear bumper, over fenders, and rear gate spoiler alone already costs ¥365,000 + tax (Php 172,000). The LED lamps cost an additional ¥30,000 (Php 14,000), and the hood set is another ¥155,000 (Php 73,000). Pricing for the triple side exit exhaust will be announced at a later date.
If you thought the bodykit was pricey, the wheels will set you back even more. The smaller 20-inch Wald Jarret cost ¥77,000 (Php 36,000) per piece. Meanwhile, the larger 22-inch units you see installed here cost ¥107,000 (Php 50,500) per piece. Don't forget you have to buy tires for them too.
Considering how popular the Wald kit is in the country, don't be surprised to see Wald-kitted Hiluxes on the road in the next few months.
