The Kia K4 made its world debut at the 2014 Chengdu Motor Show in Sichuan, China. The K4 will be manufactured and marketed exclusively in China. It will be built by the Dongfeng-Yuede-Kia joint venture.
Kia says the K4 has a bold and elegant design infused with stylish lines and the brand's signature “tiger-nose” grill. The K4 has a length of 4700mm, a width of 1815mm and a height of 1465mm. The Korean automaker says the K4 is one of the longest in segment with a wheelbase of 2770mm. The body of the vehicle is built using 50-percent ultra-high tensile steel.
Inside, it has a heated steering wheel, a TFT-LCD instrument cluster and a telematics system that is compatible with the latest smartphones. The K4 also comes with heated seats, smart key and rear air ventilation.
The K4 is equipped with six airbags, vehicle stability management and tire pressure monitoring system.
Two naturally-aspirated petrol engines are currently available that includes a 1.8-liter engine that delivers 143 PS with 176 Nm of torque and a 2.0-liter unit that generates 155 PS with 192 Nm. Both are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Kia has confirmed that a 1.6-liter turbocharged T-GDI gasoline engine the produces 176 PS with 265 Nm of torque will soon be added to the line-up. It is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The K4 is priced at 140,000 yuan (around PHP 987,000) and goes all the way up to 180,000 yuan (about PHP 1.3 million).
