The Chevrolet Corvette C8 has been in the market for over two years already. More recently, the automaker even launched the more powerful Z06 variant. However, the mid-engine supercar has yet to be officially offered by Chevrolet Philippines. If you check the Chevy PH website, the older C7 model is still listed.
While the automaker did say they will launch the C8 in 2021, it seems that hasn't happened just yet. But it seems one dealership will soon be accepting orders for the mid-engine Corvette. According to Vincent Licup of Chevrolet North EDSA, the dealership will soon be accepting orders for the 2022 Corvette 3LT. Best of all, there's even a price.
According to the Licup, the 2022 Corvette 3LT will retail for roughly PHP 9.9 million give or take. It's expensive, especially compared to the C7 which locally retails for PHP 8,546,888 already. There is a benefit, though. Buying a Corvette C8 from Chevrolet North EDSA (or any other Chevy PH dealership) comes with a warranty and services, which gray market dealers will not be able to offer.
What can we expect from the Corvette 3LT? The 3LT is essentially the top trim of the standard Corvette Stingray. It uses a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 496 PS and 637 Nm torque as the standard Corvette Stingray. No manual here; it's paired exclusively to an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. As a result, the C8 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds.
Inside, expect to see leather all around for a more upscale look and feel. The 3LT also comes with GT2 bucket seats as standard. Other amenities include a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, 8-inch Chevy Infotainment 3 system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a Bose 14-speaker system.
Chevrolet Philippines has yet to officially announce when the Corvette C8 will make its local debut. But with Chevrolet North EDSA accepting orders soon, the sports car's arrival might be around the corner.
