Earlier this year, The Covenant Car Company Inc (TCCCI), the official distributor of Chevrolet in the country, announced that they will be launching the all-new Suburban and Tahoe by Q4 of 2020. This means that the bow-tie brand will continue to offer a midsize and a full-size SUV locally.
Their arrival, however, had to be postponed due to the pandemic affecting global markets. Instead of arriving later this year, TCCCI said that they will be launching the aforementioned SUVs next year. But it won't just be the 2021 Tahoe and Suburban that will make their Philippine debut soon.
Also set to arrive next year is none other than the all-new C8 Corvette. Yes, the first-ever mid-engined Corvette will be making its way to the Philippines as well in 2021.
Exact details of the PH-spec C8 Corvette have yet to be revealed. However, we expect it to have the same 6.2-liter, naturally-aspirated V8 found across the Pacific. Dubbed the LT2, it makes 496 PS along with 637 Nm of torque. Power is then sent exclusively to an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which allows the C8 to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds.
When paired with the Z51 package, the C8 Corvette gets better brakes, upgraded cooling, a bespoke aero kit, and a throatier exhaust system. It also boosts horsepower by 5, making the C8 have over 500 PS on tap.
With no exact date yet as to when the C8 Corvette, as well as the Suburban/Tahoe models, will arrive in the Philippines, all we can do for now is wait until Chevy officially brings them in. Hopefully, Chevrolet will start accepting reservations as early as now in order to accommodate those that wish to make early bookings.
In total, TCCCI will be bringing a total of five new models from Chevrolet next year. With the C8 Corvette, Tahoe, and Suburban already being confirmed, only two mystery models remain to be revealed.
