Chevrolet's mini runaround has been transformed into a high-riding crossover called the Activ. Set to arrive in US dealerships in Q1 of 2017, Chevrolet claimed that the all-new crossover is their vision of an urban crossover with 'trail-inspired accents and upscale features'.
Like the Spark from which it is based off, it gets the familiar design cues from the hatchback. It has the same set of headlights from the Spark but gets a tweaked dual-port grill with a unique design finish. It also gets large circular foglights.
Towards the side, the Activ is fitted with black wheel lip moldings while the suspension has been slightly raised by 10mm. Completing the exterior décor are the five-spoke 15-inch alloy wheels, unpainted rear bumper, front and rear skidplates, tailgate-mounted spoiler and roof rails.
Interior images were not provided though Chevrolet did say it will have plenty of in-car features and amenities. For infotainment, it has Chevy's 7-inch touchscreen system called MyLink which supports digital radio, DVD, USB, Aux, smartphone mirroring and Bluetooth. It even comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Heated leatherette front seats were also installed, along with a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel. Other amenities present on the Active are: rearview camera, air-conditioning, cruise control, remote keyless entry and 4G LTE wi-fi hotspot.
Under the hood is a 1.4-liter EcoTec inline-four. The engine produces 99 PS and can be mated to either 5-speed manual gearbox or continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The new Spark ACTIV is all about adventurous fun and style. It has an attitude, while still offering the sophisticated, efficient and connected driving experience customers have come to love,” said Steve Majoros, director of car and crossover marketing at Chevrolet.
