The ultimate hooning toy
Want to show off your driving skills to your friends? Well, if you order a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, you'll be able to back up your claims with data and video.
General Motors will be equipping the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with their own Performance Data Recorder. The system allows the driver to record HD video and GPS telemetry of trackdays and more.
“The Performance Data Recorder combines the ability to record and share drive videos with the power of a professional-level motorsports telemetry system,” said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer. “Drivers can easily record and share their experiences driving down the Tail of the Dragon or lapping Road Atlanta. In addition, with the included telemetry software, users can analyze their laps in incredible detail and find opportunities to improve their driving and lap times.”
The PDR was developed by General Motors with Cosworth. The British-based company currently supplies the Corvette Racing team’s data acquisition and telemetry electronics system. It will be available with the start of regular 2015 Corvette production run.
The replay displays the track layout, track position, brake pressure, throttle pressure, lap number, lap time, speed, G-forces, an RPM readout and steering angle.
