Traveling between BGC and Ortigas will be faster starting next week
Traveling between Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig to Pasig City will be faster beginning next week.
Last month, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar said the Lawton Avenue to BGC Viaduct of the Kalayaan Bridge (aka BGC-Ortigas Center Link Road) will be completed this month. Just last week, Villar has confirmed that the viaduct will finally be open on September 30, 2021. He added that all efforts are currently underway to finish the project as soon as possible to meet the September 30 deadline.
Given the current pace of works and with the favorable weather conditions, the DPWH says that they are on track to complete the viaduct. Once complete, it will significantly benefit motorists that need to travel between BGC and Ortigas Center in Pasig.
“I am grateful for the dedication of our engineers and workers on the ground undertaking round-the-clock construction, rain or shine, to ensure we meet our target opening of the final viaduct segment of BGC-Ortigas Center Road Link Project,” said Villar.
Currently, the DPWH is completing road works on the 8th Avenue segment of the viaduct in BGC. There are still plenty of finishing touches to be done, but Villar believes that they will meet the September 30 deadline.
Once the viaduct is complete, it should help decongest both EDSA and C-5 of vehicular traffic.
