Volkswagen (VW) revealed the near-production version of the Taigun SUV concept at the 2014 Auto Expo in New Delhi, India. Compared to the first design concept presented in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the new SUV Taigun features a new rear section with outside-mounted spare wheel.
Finished in Ultra Orange, the Taigun Concept measures of 3,859 mm long, 1,728 mm wide, and 1,570 mm tall, but with the mounted spare wheel it becomes 3,995 mm long. It sits on a 2,470 mm wheelbase.
The interior of the Taigun is developed by designers to reflect the urban world with beige-colored seats that feature a honeycomb structure. The sides of the interior are all covered in faux leather. For cargo, it is designed with a capacity of 280 liters of space and can reach to up to 996 liters when the rear bench seat is folded down. The infotainment system offers interfacing for all commonly used smart phones. When a smart phone is connected, a Taigun Infotainment App appears on the display.
The concept is powered by 1.0-liter TSI engine that can generate up to 110 PS with 175 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted with a 6-speed manual transmission. VW says the Taigun accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds with a top speed of 186 km/h.
