When the all-new Honda Fit, known as the Jazz here, was introduced at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, the reception towards its styling was splitting opinions to say the least. There was a lot of comments about the grill-less nose and there's talk about it to this day.
So when Honda previewed the Fit Modulo X a few weeks ago, we thought it looked rather neat in our eyes at least. Now, it's been unveiled at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon, we could say that it looks even better in live photos.
Of course, there will still be those who will say something about the look of the all-new Fit, but we reckon that grill could help sway their opinion on the car. The grill doesn't appear to be tacked on either as there's a bigger opening than the hybrid variant. This makes us believe that only the Fit Hybrid will use the no-grill look while the standard (gas-fed) models will have a grill.
As for the Modulo X kit itself, it has a different set of bumpers from the hybrid Fits. Also, it gets a lot of gloss black highlights on the outside, namely on the bumpers, grill, side mirrors, tailgate spoiler, and tailgate garnish. Also, the entire roof finished in gloss black as well. Completing the Modulo X package are a set of unique eight-spoke alloy wheels.
The rest of the car n the other hand doesn't seem to get other upgrades. Since this is Modulo, there might be a suspension package that will be offered in the pipeline. We're not expecting changes under the hood though, which is a 1.0-liter gas-electric mill. Honda still won't release any specific numbers on the car just yet, but it might be in the region of the previous-generation Fit Hybrid which made about 130 - 140 PS.
We're curious as to how the non-hybrid Jazz will look like once it's out, but the Fit Modulo X seems to give us an idea of what it might be like. Here's to hoping we get this package, and the car itself, sometime this year.
