The DPWH continues their infrastructure overhaul with the groundbreaking of the BGC-Ortigas Link Road. With a target completion year of 2020, the road will connect the Ortigas central business district and Bonifacio Global City.
“Once completed, traveling between the central business districts of Taguig and Pasig Cities will only take 12 minutes and traffic congestion at EDSA and C-5 Road particularly along Guadalupe Bridge and Bagong Ilog Bridge will be alleviated by 25 percent,” said Mark Villar, secretary of the DPWH. Villar added that road's groundbreaking is among several new infrastructure projects which has been billed as the 'Golden Age of Infrastructure'.
The Php 1.6 billion project involves the construction of a 4-lane bridge connecting Lawton Avenue in Makati City and Sta. Monica Street in Pasig City. Also part of the project is the construction of a viaduct structure traversing Lawton Avenue, onwards to the entrance of Bonifacio Global City. With this new road, the DPWH says it 'will lead to the improvement of accessibility between the Cities of Pasig, Mandaluyong, Taguig and Makati'.
Supervising the construction of the link road will be the DPWH Unified Project Management Office (UPMO), headed by Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain, and Project Director Virgilio C. Castillo of DPWH implementing unit Roads Management Cluster I-UPMO. Contractors for this project are Persan Construction Inc. and Sino Road and Bridge Company Limited Inc.
