DPWH opens Laguna Lake Highway to motorists
Motorists living in Rizal can now travel faster going to Taguig after the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) recently completed the 3.2-km Laguna Lake Highway.
The new roadway is expected to reduce travel time between Taytay, Rizal and Bicutan, Taguig from one hour to 30 minutes. In addition, the Laguna Lake Highway will also prevent back flow of water from Laguna de Bay to Metro Manila.
“This newly opened highway is part of a road network that we are building to ease congestion in this particular area and provide a barrier that would prevent back flow of water coming from the Laguna de Bay going to industrial and residential areas in Metro Manila,” said Mark Villar, DPWH Secretary.
In review, the Laguna Lake Highway is a 3.2-km additional two-lane road from Napindan to M.L. Quezon Avenue was built under Phase I and Phase II of the Laguna Lake Highway Project costing PhP 512 million. It is comprised of improved paved roads, a two-meter wide planting strip, a three-meter bike lane and a 1.5-meter sidewalk.
