One of the most traffic-congested roads in Metro Manila will soon get even more cramped. The Pasig City Public Information Office (PIO) has announced that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will be conducting a rehabilitation of the drainage system including curbs, gutters, and sidewalks along Ortigas Avenue Extension. The DPWH's rehabilitation project is set to begin on August 23 and will be completed by December 8, 2019.
For those wondering, no road closures will be made during the period from August to December. Furthermore, work on the drainage system will only be made from 10 PM to 5 AM as not to affect the flow of traffic during peak hours. However, affected motorists are told to expect traffic along the stretch of Ortigas Extension during these times, and are advised to take an alternate route.
We have already reached out to the Pasig City PIO to ask which part of Ortigas Extension will be affected by the upcoming drainage rehabilitation. However, they were not able to give us an exact area where the rehabilitation will begin. Considering the long duration of the project, the DPWH will likely be working on the entire stretch of Ortigas Extension that runs through Pasig City.
With that, motorists who often pass through Ortigas Extension, particularly residents of Pasig City and Rizal should try to avoid the area at those given times starting this August 23.
