DPWH completes Php 200M renovation on Tumagbok Bridge in Southern Iloilo

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is putting the finishing touches on the newly-upgraded Tumagbok Bridge in Miagao, Iloilo. Set to be completed in a few weeks time, the DPWH said that it will provide better traffic flow in the area, as well as help socio-economic development in the town of Miagao.

“We are currently concreting the remaining two lanes of approaches on both sides of the bridge and when completed, we can fully open the bridge to the motorists and the general public,” said Wenceslao M. Leano Jr., Regional Director of the DPWH Regional Office VI.

For now, those that plan to cross the bridge can do so by using the two inner lanes which already have already been laid down with new concrete.

Originally, the Tumabgok bridge only had two-lanes. But thanks to the new upgrades, it now has four-lanes to accommodate more motorists, additional foot traffic from pedestrians, and to complement the widening of the Iloilo-Antique Road.

Besides giving the bridge a new lease on life, the original design of the bridge will be restored wherein its steel railings will be reinstalled. It will also come with concrete railings for pedestrians.

The newly-renovated Tumagbok Bridge serves as the main thoroughfare that links Iloilo City to the southern regions of Iloilo, and the provinces of Antique.
