Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the Philippines, ended 2017 on a high note by posting yet another record breaking sales year.

Hyundai says they sold a total of 37,678 vehicles in 2017; that number is 12% higher than the total sales in 2016.

The company saw a 7-percent growth in passenger car segment while light commercial vehicles (LCV) sales grew by 23-percent. A total of 25,529 passenger cars were sold last year and 12,149 LCVs make up the remainder of HARI's total 2017 sales. The biggest sales increase for passenger cars went to the Elantra with a growth of 20-percent at 1,963 units sold.

Moving on to LCVs, making up a majority of the sales is the Grand Starex. With 4,295 vans sold, sales are up by 562 units from the previous year, recording a 15 percent growth rate. The fastest growing vehicle in HARI's LCV lineup is the H-100. 3,439 units were delivered in 2017, registering a sales increase of 51 percent. Meanwhile, the Tucson saw sales up by 12 percent, having 3,649 units sold against 3,257 cars sold in 2016.

For now, Hyundai has retained pricing on select variants of some models as some are still 2017 stock units. Eon, Accent, Tucson, Santa Fe, Grand Starex, Sonata, Veloster, and Elantra even see discounts for this month or until stocks last. HARI will release their excise tax adjusted pricing in the near future.
