President Benigno Aquino III has finally named a successor to the position of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman after Francis Tolentino resigned in early October to run for senator.
MMDA Officer-in-Charge Emerson Carlos was appointed as MMDA Chairman, effective immediately and until June 30, 2016, which is when all official appointed positions will expire.
“Our MMDA chairman is Atty. Emerson Carlos, former assistant general manager for operations. This was recommended by our former chair Francis Tolentino,” said the President through a statement.
Carlos, a lawyer by profession, has been the MMDA’s Assistant General Manager for Operations since 2011. He comes highly recommended by former MMDA head, Tolentino, and that was one of the major factors in the decision of the President.
It will be a tough task ahead for Carlos, as he will be in charge of ensuring the safe and swift mobility of all the delegates attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings from November 17 to 20, 2015.
