It was back in August 2018 when Lamborghini revealed their fastest bull yet, the Aventador SVJ. Packed with a 770 PS V12 and a dry weight of only 1,525 kg, this is one seriously powerful and lightweight beast.
Now, the House of The Raging Bull decided to unveil another variant of their quickest machine only this time it has a removable roof. Say hello to the Aventador SVJ Roadster, Lamborghini's most powerful drop-top to date.
Like the coupe, the Roadster SVJ is also powered by the same 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine. It generates a massive 770 PS at 8500 rpm along with 720 Nm of torque at 6750 rpm. 0 – 100 km/h is swiftly achieved in 2.9 seconds while 0 – 200 km/h comes in at a quick 8.8 seconds. Top speed, on the other hand, is rated at over 350 km/h. Meanwhile, helping the Roadster SVJ stop quicker are carbon ceramic disc brakes allow the drop-top to stop from 100 km/h to 0 in only 31 meters.
Unlike most drop-tops that have a retractable soft-top or folding metal roof, Lamborghini went for a different route for the Roadster SVJ. It comes with a carbon fiber roof that can be removed and replaced by way of quick-release levers in the cabin. It can be stowed away under the front hood should the driver want to drive the Roadster without a roof.
Besides having a stonking V12 under the hood, Lamborghini also gave the Aventador SVJ an aerodynamic makeover. From its front bumper all the way to rear valence, the designers were busy giving the supercar more downforce. It even gets a bespoke aerodynamics system called Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA). In a nutshell, it varies aero load to achieve higher downforce or lower drag depending on the conditions.
“The Aventador SVJ Roadster inherits all the power, performance and ground breaking aerodynamic technologies of the coupé, but with its own iconic presence and prowess. It is as fundamentally exciting to drive as the Aventador SVJ but with an added exclusivity: the option of the open air. With the same extraordinary performance roof on or off, the Aventador SVJ Roadster incorporates the dynamism of the coupé with the unique spirit of a Lamborghini roadster,” said Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
Only 800 examples of the Aventador Roadster SVJ will be built in total.
