Ford Philippines started 2021 strong with the launch of the refreshed Ranger this February. They're not done yet. Far from it, in fact. The automaker still has a lot in store, but they're keeping a tight lip on what's to come.
So what do we know so far?
Well, for starters, they still have more things planned for the Ranger. Based on their announcement, Ford Philippines called the launch event “Ranger Life Campaign Part 1”. Take note, “Part 1”, suggesting a part two in the future. Again, Ford did not say what's in store for “Part 2”. But, Ford Philippines Managing Director PK Umashankar said they plan to expand the Ranger's growth even more. At the moment, the Ranger is ranked number two in the pick-up truck sales locally, behind the Toyota Hilux.
One of the possibilities is by adding more variants. At the moment, the Ranger already has numerous variants available – 13 to be exact. However, the automaker has yet to offer single cab variants aimed at the utility market. If Ford wants to get closer to the Hilux's sales figures here, more body styles might do the trick. In Thailand, they also have several special edition models that have yet to make it to the Philippines.
Now that the refreshed Ranger has been launched, the next question is when the facelifted Everest will debut. Similar to the pick-up truck, Ford launched the refreshed SUV last November. Compared to the Ranger, the changes to the facelifted Everest are more subtle. The biggest change is the new grille and additional chrome trimming all around. Ford Thailand also added new color choices for the SUV. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long for the refreshed Everest.
Ford also has some plans for the newest member in its lineup – the Territory. Since its launch last year, the model has proven to be quite popular. At the moment, however, there are only two variants Trend and Titanium+. The company could add more variants to entice more customers.
It's just the second half of February. With ten more months to go, Ford Philippines could have more surprises for us in the future.
