BMW aims to shore up its technical and engineering expertise
BMW has already confirmed the hiring of Ferrari’s Technical Director Roberto Fedeli to Automotive News Europe. He will join BMW by November after leaving Ferrari last September 13.
Fedeli did not, as previously speculated, leave because of the resignation of long-time Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo who will leave Ferrari by October 13.
His role is still unspecified but surely the hiring of a top notch engineer of a premium luxury marquee means that BMW is looking to strengthen technical aspects of future models as German rivals have been closing the gap.
Fedeli has been directly involved in the engineering of all Ferrari vehicles since 2007 after joining the company in 1988. His latest model is the limited production LaFerrari gas-electric hybrid supercar, which is the fastest road car from Ferrari at the moment.
